Why Include a Dietary Retreat During Your Stay?

A dietary retreat is an invitation to slow down and lighten the body, creating space to return to what truly matters. By simplifying your diet, the energy normally devoted to digestion can become more available for rest, presence and the experience of the retreat.

This is not a strict fast, but rather a simple, light and natural diet, mainly based on vegetables and minimally processed foods, adapted to each person’s pace. No salt, sugar, fat or coffee.

The Pathways of Transformation

A HAKENA retreat is not about achieving a particular transformation. It offers a space to move through your own inner process, at your own pace.

  • Slowing down

  • Being present with yourself

  • Nature

  • Silence

  • Inner exploration

  • Simplicity

Why Not Take a Retreat on Your Own at Home?

It is possible to slow down or simplify your diet on your own, but a guided retreat offers a setting that can be difficult to recreate by yourself.

At home:

  • A setting that can be difficult to maintain

  • Emotional isolation

  • Distractions

  • Lack of structure

Who Leads the Retreats?

HAKENA retreats are led by a guide who has followed a long path of learning with renowned shamans and within Indigenous shamanic traditions from the Americas, Mongolia, Nepal, Mexico and Lapland.

Their role is to hold the framework, ensure safety and support the smooth running of the retreat.

They are neither a doctor, psychologist nor therapist, and do not intervene in participants’ personal choices.

Their role is to maintain a clear, structured and respectful environment that supports each person’s autonomy.

A Typical Day

Each retreat alternates between guided practices, moments of silence in nature, simple meals, outdoor experiences, free time and evenings gathered around the fire.

The rhythm is designed to help you slow down, be fully present and experience each moment.

Phone Use and Digital Detox

During the retreat, we invite you to take a break from your digital devices.

This temporary disconnection helps to:

  • Reduce external distractions

  • Stay present

  • Deepen the inner experience

Setting and Safety

HAKENA retreats take place within a structured and guided framework.

They are not:

  • Therapy

  • Medical care

  • Psychological counselling

Each participant remains fully responsible for their own journey and state of health.

Evenings Around the Fire

During the retreats, we gather around the fire in a spirit of simplicity, presence and sharing.

These moments are an opportunity to come together, listen, express what we are experiencing, or simply enjoy the silence. Songs and meditations inspired by shamanic traditions are offered as a way to support presence, openness and a deeper connection with the natural world.

Everyone is free to participate in their own way, respecting their own pace and feelings.

Plants Used

Some evenings may include plants traditionally used in herbalism, such as:

  • 100% pure natural cacao

  • Thyme

  • St John’s wort

  • Yarrow

  • Rose

No psychoactive or hallucinogenic plants are used.

Each plant is clearly presented before use.

Nature Experiences

During the retreats, some experiences invite you to step outside your usual routines and fully embrace the present moment.

Depending on the retreat, these may take different forms: cold-water immersion, connecting with the elements, sweat lodge ceremonies, mindful walking or other practices in nature.

These experiences are offered as invitations to explore your inner resources, move beyond certain fears or apprehensions, and build self-confidence. Everyone is free to participate at their own pace and within their own limits.

Held in a caring and supportive environment, these experiences become opportunities to reconnect with yourself, your body and the natural world.

Who Are These Retreats For?

These retreats are open to any adult who wants to:

  • Take a step back

  • Slow down

  • Experience time in nature

  • Explore their inner world

No previous experience is required.

Life After the Retreat

The end of a retreat does not mark an ending, but the beginning of integrating the experience into everyday life.

Everyone experiences this return at their own pace:

  • Gradual integration

  • Different experiences and effects

  • Returning to everyday life

  • No single right way

There is no right or wrong way to live after a dietary retreat. What matters is to ease back into everyday life gently, while continuing to listen to yourself.

As you may have gathered, these few explanations only begin to scratch the surface of the depth of the retreat experience.

Over the years, Yannick has been guided by encounters and teachings from guardians of ancestral traditions from different cultures around the world. These encounters, with people who have maintained a deep connection with nature, the elements and the living world for generations, have shaped his approach and understanding of these practices.

Today, he shares this experience in France through an approach adapted to our cultural environment and the French legal framework, with the intention of preserving the essence of these teachings while making them accessible to everyone.
